Your Emotional Landscape
Your emotions are with you all the time, some good, some not so good. How do you feel right now? Take a few minutes to just sit quietly and listen to your feelings and your emotions.
The first thing to do is to take notice of your normal, everyday emotional landscape. Whilst some people are on the whole emotionally stable, others are much more up and down. Some are relatively happy, others are relatively unhappy. If you’re able write a daily journal of how you are feeling. How would you describe yourself? Find a good time to sit down and write out your thoughts on this. Also write down any changes you would like to make in your normal range of emotions.
Below is the NLP model for your Emotional Landscape… where would you put yourself right now? Many of us are in the far left, either the Survival Zone or the Burnout Zone, does that resonate with you?
Do you come home at the end of the day, shattered? Are you in a role that you just do, without any emotional attachment, it brings a wage in each month, it pays the bills.
What happens if you want to get into the right side of the diagram? You want to be in the Performance Zone, you want to excel in something?
Or what happens if you want to go into the Recovery Zone? What does that mean to you? Do you need a holiday? Do you need to make time for yourself, to recharge your own batteries?
You can reach those goals, you can make the changes that you want in your life.
